Costar Rates Chace Crawford's Dance Moves

Chace Crawford will soon be cutting Footloose on the big screen. So what's he like on the real-life dance floor?

"Chace has got a lot of upper body stuff going on. He raises the roof a lot," his Gossip Girl costar Connor Paolo told PEOPLE at a St. Jude Children's Research Hospital benefit at Manhattan ballroom Capitale Thursday night.

The unique move, he says, is a success. "Come on, anything Chace does will work for him," Paolo said with a laugh.

The 18-year-old actor – on hiatus from filming – looks forward to hearing more from Crawford about the film, which will be directed by High School Musical's Kenny Ortega.

"The last time I saw him ... we were talking about the film he just finished, which was Twelve. So he and I haven't talked about this yet. But I'm sure it will be a fun conversation!"

And, in the meantime, Paolo is looking forward to a summer not in the city. "My family grew up out in Long Beach Island in Jersey, which is where I basically grew up. So I'm out there almost every weekend. We'll just drive out there and kick back at the house," he says. And maybe get their grooves on.

Crawford given Bacon's blessing

Chace Crawford has revealed that he met with Kevin Bacon regarding the remake of Footloose.

The Gossip Girl star signed on earlier this week to portray Ren McCormack, a role that Bacon originated in the 1984 movie.

He told MTV: "Well, I don't know if I will be [the new Kevin Bacon] or not. It's a different film. It's gonna be great. I met [Kevin], actually, and it's gonna be good."

The 23-year-old joked that Bacon performed a ritual that symbolised his blessing for Crawford taking on the role.

He added: "Yes, yes, he brought out this little thing of oil. It was really weird and, like, it just dripped down ever so slightly."

Footloose is scheduled to begin production in March 2010.

It's Official: Chace Crawford's Gettin' Footloose

Gossip Girl hottie Chace Crawford will be kicking off his Sunday shoes in the remake of Footloose, stepping into the void left behind when Zac Efron dropped out.

Crawford, 23, will play Ren McCormack, the rebellious dancing high schooler who launched the career of a then 25-year-old Kevin Bacon, Paramount Pictures has announced.

In a recent PEOPLE poll, readers were into the idea, but Crawford still trailed front-runner Derek Hough as a replacement for Efron (followed by David Cook and Bow Wow).

High School Musical star Efron told EW.com he passed on the role because he didn't want to be type-cast as the musical guy and was searching instead for "the unknown."

Footloose, to be directed by High School Musical's Kenny Ortega, is set to begin shooting in March 2010.

Ed and Chace's 'weird' fan mail

Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick has revealed that he and co-star Chace Crawford sometimes get sent "weird" fan mail.

Westwick, who plays Chuck Bass in the CW drama, told Metro that the pair had been targeted by teenage fans who live in the same building as them in New York.

"I’ve been getting some weird mail, that’s for sure," he explained.

"There have been a couple of nights where some of the girls who live there have obviously got a bit drunk and written love letters and slipped them under the door. We have one stuck up on the fridge.

"She goes on some rant about how she is not like other girls and I should give her a call and we should hang out."

Gossip boys 'are just mates'

Ed Westwick has again denied claims that he has a sexual relationship with his Gossip Girl co-star Chace Crawford.

The actor has rejected the reports a number of times and told Metro that he hoped the rumours had finally been put to rest.

Westwick, who plays Chuck Bass on the US teen drama, said: "I don't think anyone with half a brain seriously thought there was anything in that.

"Some of the more gossipy magazines take a hot topic and run with it but anyone who knows us knows we are just mates."

He added: "The show's based on a woman who spreads gossip on the internet, so I guess the concept of the show is stretching out into real life.

"People chop and change in their relationships. Life imitates art and art imitates life."

Chace moving out?

Chace Crawford, who plays Nate Archibald on Gossip Girl, has reportedly grown tired of living and working with Ed Westwick, who portrays Chuck Bass on The CW series. According to the New York Post, Crawford is moving out of the New York apartment he shares his Gossip Girl co-star and he's on the lookout for his own bachelor pad.

Crawford and Westwick have been real-life roommates since moving to the Big Apple for Gossip Girl, and have been living under one roof in Manhattan's Chelsea district since the series began airing in 2007.

Now, Crawford is looking for his own space.

"Chace wants to move out to a bachelor pad. He wants privacy and has told his agent to spare no expense in finding the perfect loft," a source told the New York Post, adding that Crawford wants to live "downtown, in a secure building with a doorman."

Reps for Westwick and Crawford have yet to comment on the news.

Chace and Hayden to get Footloose?

Heroes star Hayden Penettiere and Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford are in talks to appear in a new remake of the 80s smash, Footloose, it's been reported.

Hayden is said understood to have recently auditioned for the movie's producers, who want to create a “full-blown” musical out of the original.

"They were really impressed," a source told E! Online. "No one realised what a good singer she is."

Although neither actor has been confirmed for the project, Chace's participation in the movie is said to be a done deal.

The movie would be the Gossip Girl star's biggest role to date.

Footloose tell tells the story of Ren McCormack, who moves from Chicago to a small US town where music and dancing have been banned.

The original film, released in 1984, starred Sarah Jessica Parker and Kevin Bacon.
